Learning trackers fail the same way habit apps do: they optimise for the streak rather than the substance. Logging becomes a box to tick, and the entry degrades into a word or two written to keep a number alive.

The other failure is friction. Anything that asks for tags, categories, and structured reflection at the end of a long day simply does not get opened.

One entry a day, one question: what did you actually learn? Keeping the surface deliberately small is the feature, not a limitation of scope.

Grading the entry via the Anthropic API turns it from a diary into a mirror — a vague entry reads as vague, which is a far more useful signal than an unbroken streak counter.

The interface is intentionally calm: warm cream ground, sage accent, serif headings. It should feel like a notebook, not a productivity dashboard.
